PARENTING INFORMATION
Many things are said about parenting… "Parenting is the toughest job you’ll ever love"… "Kids don’t come with a manual"… "it takes a village to raise a child” … Family Connections recognizes that most parents find themselves faced with unexpected challenges and alot of questions as their children grow, and we believe that all parents can benefit from information and support.
Parenting Education Series:
Several times each year an 8-week parenting series is offered. Topics covered include: Managing stress as a parent, recognizing personal strengths, problem solving, improving social supports, giving children positive attention, using rules and consequences, and giving directions and choices. The sessions of the parenting series are usually held in the evenings, and child care and a light meal are provided to make it easier for families to participate. (Schedule will be posted as soon as it becomes available)
Individual Parenting Workshops:
Periodically, workshops are offered on current popular and requested topics of interest to our clients.
Parent Resource Libraries:
Each center offers a variety of resources related to child development and parenting issues, available for parents to use on site or borrow for use at home.
